What are idioms? They are expressions that use a creative set of words, or phrases that imply a deeper meaning than the obvious. Every language has its own set of wise words; they’re called idioms if they are short and proverbs if they are longer. Native speakers of a language are bound to have a few idioms up their sleeves to appear smart and snappy. So gear up, here are a few idioms that will make English a piece of cake.

As you can see, idioms are a fun way of saying common things by adding more emphasis to them. By adding razzmatazz to a sentence, spicing up a dish or walking on the wild side- however you want to say it, the applications are countless. They are frequently used in television talk shows, serials and comedy shows to make related jokes. Authors, writers and poets make a living out of tweaking and turning words in their pieces.
